Instead of donating to PRIVATE charities why not offer to pay MORE in Federal taxes, being that the Federal Government is so efficient. Sean Penn, Clooney, Michael Moore, how about it? That way your donations could go to FEMA instead of the Red Cross. Or Welfare instead of the Private Charities that help the poor and homeless in the inner cities. How about it?
Brad Pitt did a great job helping to build houses with Habitat for Humanity, A PRIVATE charity. Many people still wait on FEMA.
And for people saying Lib's don't mind pay extra taxes, I don't disagree. What I'm saying is instead of donating to Private Charites, why not donate to the Federal Govn't?
As an interesting sidenote: one should be aware that Conservatives donate more to Private Charity than Liberals-

This study is flawed and biased. The poorest people are ussually liberals and they give most percentage wise yet they leave that part out. How convenient.
